Mika Singh Apologises For His Performance In Karachi Post Article 370 Being Revoked From Jammu And Kashmir; Says It Was A Mistake
Mika Singh in a press conference today apologized to the country for his performance at a wedding in Karachi
Mika Singh, Bollywood's famous pop singer recently performed in Karachi at a wedding. The singer performed in Pakistan and was also captured singing at the wedding festivities of the daughter of former President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf's close relative. Ever since the video of Mika Singh’s performance in Karachi went viral on social media, it sparked an outrage among netizens and Mika faced severe backlash for his decision. After a few days, the singer was also banned by AICWA. Now, Mika held a press conference in Mumbai today, to apologize to the country and the federation for doing so.
The singer told the media that when he did a show in Pakistan he had an intention to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib and Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Pakistan. He said he reached on August 3 and on August 5, Article 370 was revoked. He mentioned how it wasn’t very important for him to attend the show in Pakistan and that it all happened by mistake that he went there and Article 370 was abolished. When he learned about the federation and that it is quite old and has done a lot for 60,000 workers, all that he wanted to say is that the federation should listen to correct people and not fake people who spread fake news and protest. He urged them to listen to the right people. Singh also mentioned how he learned about the good work carried by the Mr.Tiwari and the federation and then further called several actresses of the federation and they praised the federation and their hard work. He once again said that it was all by mistake and he doesn’t want to go against his country and hurt fans and federation. He apologized to his fans, media, and the country as well as the federation as it was not his intention to do so.
Mika Singh is very well known for his hit songs like Jumme Ki Raat and Aankh Maare and was invited to perform at the wedding along with a crew of 14 people in Pakistan. The singer’s performance was right around the time Indian government repealed Article 370, which revoked the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir. After which Pakistan banned Indian films and cultural content. Amid the mounting tensions, Mika’s decision to perform at the wedding in Pakistan evoked a lot of outrage by his fans and they took to Twitter to express their feelings. Certain reports suggest that the pop singer charged 15000 USD (Rs. 1.06 crore approx) for the performance.
